Salt painting is a fun and creative art activity for preschoolers that combines painting with the texture of salt to create beautiful, sparkly artwork.

Materials Needed:

  • White glue
  • Table salt
  • Watercolor paints or food coloring
  • Paintbrushes
  • Heavy paper or cardstock

How to Do It:

  1. Download and print the worksheets.
  2. Draw with Glue:
    • Use the white glue to draw a picture or design on the heavy paper. .
  3. Add Salt:
    • Sprinkle table salt over the glue while it is still wet. Make sure the glue is completely covered with salt.
  4. Shake Off Excess:
    • Gently shake off the extra salt into a container or trash bin, leaving a salt-covered design on the paper.
  5. Paint:
    • Dip a paintbrush into the watercolor paint or food coloring. Lightly touch the paintbrush to the salt-covered glue. Watch as the color spreads and creates beautiful patterns.
  6. Dry:
    • Let your salt painting dry completely.
